Moose Factory Public Elementary Teachers and Occasional Teachers Reach Tentative Agreement

TORONTO, May 14 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers and occasional
teachers in Moose Factory, members of the James Bay Elementary Teacher and
Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO), have reached a tentative agreement with the Moose Factory Island
District School Area Board.
"Our bargaining team has done a great job in building the consensus
needed to forge a deal. Their determined efforts during a challenging
bargaining environment will reap rewards for our members over the next four
years of their new contract," said ETFO President David Clegg.
"Our negotiating team was able to negotiate improvements in both our
daily working conditions and benefits. This agreement is definitely an
improvement over our previous one," said Jennifer Knight, President of the
ETFO James Bay Teacher and Occasional Teacher Local.
Details of the agreement will be available following a members'
ratification vote.
The James Bay Elementary Teacher and Occasional Teacher Local represents
approximately 40 elementary teachers and 5 occasional teachers. Their last
contract expired August 31st, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
