Montréal's electronic game industry welcomes a new player - Javaground is opening a new production studio in Montréal

    MONTREAL, Nov. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - California-based Javaground, a company
specialized in the development of video games and tools enabling the
deployment of games and applications across mobile phones, is opening a
production studio in Montréal. Already in growth mode, Javaground Canada
intends to increase its workforce by hiring fifteen additional developers at
the Montréal International Game Summit, being held at Montréal's Palais des
Congrès on November 27 and 28.
During the Montréal International Game Summit, Javaground's President and
World Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Alexandre Kral, will be in Montréal to meet
with local industry and media representatives. "Montréal is a North American
leader in game development. By opening a studio here, we will be able to
benefit from the know-how of the region's experienced professionals," stated
Mr. Kral. "In the near future, we believe that Montréal will become one of our
most important development centres. Furthermore, we are investing more than
one million dollars this year to ensure the growth of our Montréal-based
team."
Mr. Vincent Deschênes, Director of Operations for Javaground Canada, is
very optimistic about the company's future in Montréal. "Ever since we opened
our Montréal office, our team has continued to grow. Over the next two or
three years, we are looking at a target of between twenty-five to thirty
employees."
Montréal International has been working with Javaground throughout the
set-up phase of its local studio. According to Mr. Pierre Brunet, Chairman of
Montréal International's Board of Directors, "Foreign companies come to
Greater Montreal for obvious reasons: an extremely dynamic business
environment, internationally recognized educational institutions and a
bilingual and highly qualified workforce known for its creativity."
Javaground Canada will focus on the development of new electronic games
and fully exploit its principal asset, the Javaground Xpress Suite. This tool
allows developers to create games for various major mobile platforms. "Our new
product has been launched at a very strategic time in our industry," explained
Mr. Deschênes. "Mobile phone technology is becoming more diversified, thus
creating the need for standardisation among game developers. Our Javaground
Xpress solution deals specifically with this challenge."
