Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre's Annual Yom Hashoah commemoration

    "Remembering Youth"
    April 15th, 2007

    MONTREAL, April 12 /CNW Telbec/ - On Sunday, April 15th, 2007 at
7:30 p.m., the community will gather to commemorate Yom Hashoah, the day of
Holocaust remembrance. This Commemoration will take place at the Tifereth Beth
David Jerusalem Congregation, 6519 Baily Road, in Côte St.-Luc.
The theme of Yom Hashoah, "Unto Every Person There is a Name," was
established by Yad Vashem to honour the memory of the six million Jews who
were murdered during the Shoah. The organizing committee has developed a
programme this year entitled "Remembering Youth...", which will be marked by
personal testimony from Holocaust survivors, as well as with prose and poetry
readings by second and third generations and other members of the community.
Six memorial candles will be lit by survivors, children and grandchildren of
survivors.
More than 2,500 people are expected to attend this citywide service.
The Yom Hashoah Commemoration Service is organized by the Remembrance
Committee.
