One-day, expert-led program to be hosted at CIM Conference and Exhibition
TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - With today's changing market dynamics, it has
never been more important to understand the challenges and opportunities in
the mining and minerals sector.
A day-long program, led by industry experts, is being held on Wednesday,
May 13 to provide insight for those working in, and following, the mining and
'Mining Finance and Management Day: Dealing with the Downturn' was
developed specifically for 2009 as part of the CIM Conference and Exhibition,
being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre May 10-13. Sessions will
explore topics including: availability of debt and equity finance, merger and
acquisition trends and catalysts, what else could possibly go wrong?, the next
hot minerals, and more.

the resulting effects on the mining and minerals sector, the topics being
discussed during 'Dealing with the Downturn' are both extremely timely and

In addition to the session speakers, there are two Keynote addresses and
one Luncheon speaker participating in 'Mining Finance and Management Day:
Dealing with the Downturn':
- O.K. (Kim) Goheen, senior vice-president and CFO for of Cameco
Corporation will open the day with a keynote speech on the topic of:
Building for Success in Troubled Times.
- Dave Williams, one of the NASA space program's most accomplished
astronauts and Canada's first dual astronaut and aquanaut, will
provide a Luncheon address, speaking on his understanding of what is
involved in achieving peak personal performance: endurance,
persistence, and the ability to overcome obstacles. He will also
share his expertise on risk management and his "no error strategy".
- Michael Hlinka, a CBC Radio business commentator and Professor at
George Brown College in the Faculty of Business, will provide the
final Keynote address of the day on the topic of: New Gold Dreams.
