Military Community Photography Contest Opens Voting to the Public

Photography Contest's online voting starts November 1st

OTTAWA, Nov. 2 /CNW/ - Aspects of military life, as depicted by
photographers in the defence community are available for public viewing
through the Future Photo website. Annually, the Department of National Defence
(DND) runs a photography contest. This year, Future Photo is supporting the
Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency, the arm of the CF that provides
morale and welfare programs through the promotion of the DND photo contest and
the creation of a website which allows the public to vote on their favourite
DND Photo Contest imagery.
From November 1st until November 15th votes may be cast at
www.cfpsa.com/dndphotocontest. The People's Choice Award portion of the DND
Photography Contest is brought to the public by, futurephoto.ca, and will
feature the top three photographs of seven categories which all have an
amateur and a professional component. These are: military life, family life,
sport, environment, portrait, special effects and open.
"This year, the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency and the CF Joint
Imagery Centre received 1048 submissions," says Candice Bazinet, CFPSA
Sponsorship Specialist. "Prizes are generously donated by a number of Canadian
companies and this year Futurephoto.ca is adding a new dimension to our DND
Photo Contest."
The DND Photography Contest has been running since 1968 and is organized
by the Canadian Forces Joint Imagery Centre and the Canadian Forces Personnel
Support Agency. Participants of the contest include DND employees, members of
the Canadian Forces (CF) and their families and retired CF/DND members.
Professional photographers such as a military spouse working in the
profession, or a military photographer working in one of the CF Imaging
Centres, as well as amateur photographers participate in this great artistic
event.
The purpose of the contest is to encourage the creation of imagery which
depicts the many aspects of life in the military; and to recognize those
members of the military community who have attained a level of excellence in
the art of photography.
Futurephoto.ca is proud to support the personnel of the Armed Forces and
their families. For full details on the 2007 photo contest and to view the top
photographs in each category, visit www.cfpsa.com/dndphotocontest.
