    SEATTLE, WA, Dec. 18 /CNW/ - MicroPlanet, (MP:TSXV & MCTYF:OTC) a clean
technology, energy conservation company, announced today that it has entered
into a sales, service and distribution agreement with Intertech Engineering
Pty Ltd. ("Intertech") based in Melbourne, Australia. Under the agreement
Intertech will provide sales and service for MicroPlanet products for the
Australian and New Zealand markets. Intertech has designed and manufactured
products used by utilities in Australia and New Zealand for the past 20 years.
"Following the $6 million order from Ergon Energy in October, we are
seeing a tremendous amount of interest for our products from the other
Australian utilities," said Bruce Lisanti CEO of MicroPlanet. "The Intertech
team has in-depth knowledge of Australia's utilities and the ability to
professionally represent our products in this dynamic marketplace. We are
excited to have found such a strong partner that will be able to help us
expand quickly. We expect to be able to announce additional orders with other
utilities in the area very soon."
"Australia has a large and growing need for effective voltage management
to improve the quality of supply and to reduce energy loss. The older
technology voltage control devices we have worked with in the past are
unreliable, consume a significant amount of energy and are difficult to
repair. The MicroPlanet products have been extensively tested in the extreme
conditions of the Outback where they have performed perfectly," said Tim
Popkiss the Managing Director of Intertech.
"The design of the Australia power grid with its extensive network of
SWER lines (single wire, earth return) makes the MicroPlanet products an ideal
solution for Australia. MicroPlanet has developed a unique technology that is
highly effective, reliable and cost effective. We are delighted to be working
with MicroPlanet to take advantage of the huge market opportunities, both with
the utilities and commercial customers," said Popkiss.
This distribution agreement was finalized after MicroPlanet's successful
product showing at the Energy 21C conference in Sydney, which MicroPlanet
attended in November. "At Energy 21C we were able to meet with senior managers
from nearly all of the Australian utilities. With their government's recent
signing of the Kyoto Accord, and the Environment Ministers presentation of the
agreement between MicroPlanet and Ergon Energy in Parliament, we now have very
high visibility with the Australian utilities. They are actively looking for
cost effective ways to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and
improve power quality for their customers. The MicroPlanet products accomplish
both objectives extremely well," said Lisanti.
MicroPlanet is working with more than 30 utilities worldwide, in addition
to many large commercial accounts and has installed over 600 systems in pilot
programs with customers that have the potential to place significant
commercial orders. The pilot programs for MicroPlanet products continue to
return very positive results. 5-8% reductions in energy consumption in
residential applications and 5-12% in commercial environments are common
without requiring any changes in customer behavior patterns.
