Metro Announces New Look



    Canada's largest free daily announces new look starting on September 4th

    TORONTO, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - Metro has a fresh new look for readers on
September 4th, when it launches a newly designed, brighter, more contemporary
newspaper.
    Metro's facelift features a new, easier-to-read layout. The daily
newspaper includes a more consistent colour coding of sections so that readers
will have quick access to their favourite content.
    The new Metro design also includes newly designed fonts, vibrant colours
and more photos. In Toronto, Metro has expanded its popular Celebrity Buzz
feature from 1-page to a 2-page spread.
    Metro's English editions, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary and
Vancouver, will all carry the new look starting Tuesday September 4th. Metro's
French edition in Montreal adapted the new look earlier this year. The changes
to Metro are seen as less of a radical change, and more of a "tune-up" by
Metro.
    The changes have come from a combination of design elements already
successfully implemented by Metro Internationally, and feedback from Metro
readers in Canada. Jodi Isenberg, Editor-In-Chief for Metro English Canada,
commented: "We are excited to bring readers this redesign. We know that they
are going to love the improvements, but still feel like they're reading their
favourite free daily newspaper." The new look was well received by Metro
readers in a series of focus groups conducted by BrandSpark, an independent
research company.
    Metro has been promoting the new look in-paper, and through local radio
stations on Hot 89.9 FM in Ottawa and FLOW 93.5 FM in Toronto.
