ANJOU, QC, March 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Following a precautionary recall
notice issued on March 16, 2007 for dog and cat food manufactured by Menu
Foods, Mondou had all of the products named taken off its shelves last
Saturday, March 17.
The recall, which covers the Eukanuba, Iams and Nutro brands, applies
only to "cuts and gravy" products sold in cans that were manufactured during a
specific two-month period.
Under no circumstances does this recall extend to dry pet food and canned
Working with Procter & Gamble and Nutro managers responsible for the
Quebec market, Mondou has implemented a precautionary plan for safely
recalling the products in question. Among other measures, this plan suggests
that clients who have any of the specifically-identified products in their
homes take them back to a Mondou outlet for an exchange. Notices to customers
have been posted in all stores. Any consumers who have doubts about the
products they have purchased are invited to visit a Mondou location, where the
staff will be able to identify particular products about which they may have
doubts. In addition, all products that are withdrawn will be destroyed.
Mondou supports its suppliers and remains confident that the pet food it
sells is of very high quality and safe to consume. The company restates its
commitment to providing its customers with products that meet the high
