Media Release - Shoe Box Collection Starts Monday

Operation Christmas Child celebrates its 15th year of spreading the joy
of Christmas with needy children around the world

CALGARY, Oct. 31 /CNW/ - It is that time of year again - the time where
generous Canadians join together to share joy and hope with children-in-need
around the world by packing shoe box gifts for Operation Christmas Child.
Collection Centres across Canada are open November 5-10. Get involved today in
the world's largest Christmas project! The last day to drop off shoe boxes at
any of Canada's 1200 drop-off locations including Canada Safeway stores,
300 Collection Centres, and participating bus lines including Greyhound
Courier Express, Acadian, Orleans, STC, DRL and Ontario Northland is November
10th.

WHO CAN HELP? In its 15th season, Operation Christmas Child is calling
on local kids, families, churches, businesses, schools,
scout troops, and civic organizations to join this
massive effort to bring joy and hope to children in war-
                    torn and developing countries.

DO SHOEBOXES Shoe box gifts are a simple but powerful way of offering
HELP? hope and joy to needy children in over 90 countries
around the world. Often shoe box gifts are the only gift
hurting children ever receive. Through the ongoing work
of Samaritan's Purse, children not only receive a gift
for the moment, but resources for the future. In 2006,
Canadians donated 738,079 shoe boxes for children around
                    the world.
