Media Notice - Commissioner Ann Cavoukian releasing results of her investigation into the TTC's video surveillance system



    TORONTO, Feb. 29 /CNW/ - Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioner Ann
Cavoukian is holding a news conference Monday morning to release the results
of her investigation into a privacy complaint regarding the Toronto Transit
Commission's video surveillance system.
    As well as the results of her four-month investigation into the privacy
complaint, her 50-page special report includes:

    
    -   A detailed review of the literature and analysis from various parts
        of the world on the effectiveness of video surveillance;

    -   An examination of the role that privacy-enhancing technologies can
        play in mitigating the privacy-invasive nature of video surveillance
        cameras; and

    -   13 recommendations for the Toronto Transit Commission.

    EVENT:       Release of Commissioner Cavoukian's investigation report;

    WHERE:       Media studio at Queen's Park;

    WHEN:        11 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2008;

    FORMAT:      The Commissioner will briefly summarize her findings, then
                 take questions.

    DETAILS:     A news release, an executive summary of the special report
                 and the special report will all be available as of
                 11 a.m. at the news conference.
