Media Invitation - Montreal mayor, hundreds of citizens expected - Unveiling of funds available to restore Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs church in Verdun

VERDUN, QC, Sept. 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Georges Bossé, former mayor of Verdun
and Chair of the committee for the restoration of
Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, invites the media to a news conference
announcing the funds available for restoring this heritage building located in
Verdun, one of Montreal Island's most beautiful churches.
The news conference will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 10,
in the church building itself. On hand will be Montreal mayor Gérald Tremblay,
Verdun MNA Henri-François Gautrin, Verdun Borough Mayor Claude Trudel and
architect Louis Brillant.
A few hundred ordinary citizens will also attend this media event, during
which the church bells will be rung and its organ played.
The almost-century-old Notre-dame-des-Sept-Douleurs church has been
recognized as a building with heritage value and was thus deemed eligible,
last December, for inclusion in the program run by the Conseil du patrimoine
religieux du Québec.
The church is located at the corner of Wellington and de l'Eglise
Streets.
