Media Interview - Breakfast Clubs of Canada: Summer campaign to help Ontarian kids get a bright start to the next school year

    TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ - As this school year is coming to an end,
Breakfast Clubs of Canada (BCC) is already gearing up for September with a
summer fundraising campaign in partnership with Danone Creamy products. Both
organizations share a common goal of giving children an equal chance at
success by starting their day at school with all the energy required to learn.
    "To accomplish our mission, we count on the energy and generosity of
people dedicated to improving the world of children," says Daniel Germain,
President and Founder of Breakfast Clubs of Canada. "Each dollar we collect
helps to buy food and equipment for nutrition programs and contributes to the
well-being of children in communities across Canada."
    BCC's mission is to regroup and re-energize the many existing school
nutrition programs by providing them additional visibility, funding and
support. In partnership with Breakfast for Learning, they help to ensure that
more than 2,400 independent school nutrition programs across the country have
the financial backing they require so that children who need it the most can
count on them. Thanks to programs like these, 230,000 Canadian children have
nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks waiting for them each day. In
Ontario alone, 124,660 children can count on the support of school nutrition
programs.
    In Canada, most children have the chance to start their day at school on
a full stomach, with all of the energy required to learn. Unfortunately, this
is not the case for too many children. Children who don't get enough to eat
have difficulty to concentrate and to get the maximum out of their day in
class. In Canada, one out of every six children has this risk.

    Preparing for Back-to-School
    ----------------------------

    This summer, Breakfast Clubs of Canada is kicking off its first campaign
with Danone Creamy to get a head start into the next school year and ensure
that Canadian children continue to get a bright start to their day. To
encourage the community's participation and support, Daniel Germain will be
available for interviews on June 21 to:

    - The importance of school nutrition programs and the growing needs of
       children;
    - Talk about his dream that one day, all children can start their day
       with the energy they need to learn;
    -  Why he dedicated his life to children;
    -  The history of BCC, its mission and accomplishments;
    - How Ontarians can help the children within their community by donating
       much needed funds, giving of their time to volunteer or until July 6,
       purchase a Danone Creamy product which helps pay for 1 meal for a
       child.

    To support the back-to-school effort, Danone's Creamy yogurt will be
promoting the campaign on their 650g containers and on both the 12 and 16
individual packs. For every purchase of one of the Creamy products, Danone
will donate $1.30 or the equivalent of a healthy meal for a child up to a
maximum value of $50,000 from now until the end of July 6, 2007.
