Media Alert/Photo Opportunity - Is it Chili in Here?! Top Culinary Students Compete in April Fool's Day Chili Challenge



    - Yves Veggie Cuisine Challenges Chefs to Master their Ground Round -

    TORONTO, March 29 /CNW/ - As Torontonians gear up for April Fool's Day,
the city's top culinary students go head-to-head at Yonge-Dundas Square in the
ultimate outdoor cooking competition: The Yves Veggie Chili Challenge. With
only a half hour on the clock, these newest faces on the culinary scene will
compete side by side to create the winning chili recipe that will fool dinner
guests by slipping meat alternatives into this favourite dish. With the help
of their sous chefs, the stage will be a buzz of excitement as the chefs chop,
dice, spice and simmer using a variety of gourmet ingredients, motivation from
a cheering public and their own culinary creativity.
    Once the half hour is up, each chili recipe will be put to the test,
sampled by a panel of judges with the most discerning of chili requirements.
From a working mom and her son to one of Toronto's heroic firefighters, only
one competitor will be named the Yves Veggie Chili master chef. As members of
the public watch the cookery developments, they will be treated to their own
samplings as Yves specialty servers circulate throughout the crowd with
individual chili servings. Emceed by Executive Chef Ian Dowsett, the Yves
Chili Challenge will serve up stirring excitement, tasty chili and food for
thought as attendees prepare to surprise their friends and family with Yves
Veggie chili this April Fool's Day.
