Media Alert/Interview Opportunity: Celebrities and Special Olympics Athletes Gather For 25th Annual Special Olympics Festival



    TORONTO, Dec. 4 /CNW/ - Canada's leading celebrities and over 2,000
guests will gather in Toronto on December 5 to celebrate the 25th annual
Special Olympics Festival.
    The 25th Anniversary Special Olympics Festival offers a full day of
events with a Special Olympics Festival Celebrity Breakfast hosting over 1200
guests, followed by the Darryl Sittler Celebrity Face-Off Challenge sponsored
by SUBWAY(R) Restaurants. The grand finale is the Special Olympics Festival
Black Tie Gala with great entertainment and guest speakers dedicated to
producing an extraordinary event in support of Special Olympics athletes. It
is a true celebration of sport in Canada.

    
    On December 5, 2007, the 25th Anniversary Special Olympics Festival takes
place at the Westin Harbour Castle. Interview opportunities include:

    -   7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Westin Harbour Castle, Metropolitan Ballroom:
        Special Olympics Festival Celebrity Breakfast
        -  Hosts Brian Williams and Jerry Howarth kicks off the day of events
           with the Special Olympics Festival Breakfast featuring guest
           speaker Henry "Gizmo" Williams along with Special Olympic athlete,
           Christina Campbell.

    -   11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Westin Harbour Castle, Frontenac Ballroom:
        Darryl Sittler Celebrity Face-Off
        -  The Darryl Sittler Celebrity Face-Off - where celebrities take on
           Special Olympics athletes in a floor hockey challenge. Celebrities
           participating in this event include Darryl Sittler, Scott
           Goodyear, Greg Joy, Brian Stemmle and Jim Veltman.

    -   5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Westin Harbour Castle, Frontenac Ballroom:
        Special Olympics Festival VIP Reception
        -  The Special Olympics Festival VIP Reception is a gathering of
           Special Olympics Canada National Sponsors and invited guests who
           will have an opportunity to mingle and meet Special Olympics
           athletes.

    -   6:00 p.m. - 12:00 p.m. Westin Harbour Castle, Metropolitan Ballroom:
        Special Olympics Festival Gala
        -  The Special Olympics Festival Black Tie Gala is an opportunity for
           more than 900 guests to mingle and meet over 35 celebrities and
           Special Olympics athletes while bidding on more than 150 live, and
           silent auctions. The custom chopper and trailer donated by Toyota
           Canada Inc. from TSN's Chopper Challenge will also be onsite. The
           evening's events will be hosted by Beverly Thomson and Vic Rauter.
