Youth make their pitch to create community arts programs in their
TORONTO, June 11 /CNW/ - Aspiring young artists, between 16 and 24 years
of age, with creative and dynamic ideas for arts programs in their
communities, will compete for the chance to win $3000 to put their artistic
ideas into action at a live and interactive pitch contest.

Time: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Location: Gladstone Hotel, Ballroom
The pitch contest is sponsored by ArtReach Toronto, in partnership with
City of Toronto Culture, as part of the Ignite: Youth Arts Forum.
Eight finalists were short-listed from a larger group of contest entries.
Each finalist will make a creative and inspiring presentation or performance
to convince a panel of judges, in five minutes or less, why their proposal
should be awarded one of the three prizes of $3,000. Performances will feature
various art forms, including music, hip hop, dance, theatre, fashion, spoken
word, and urban arts.
"This contest recognizes young artists, showcases their talents and
demonstrates how arts can be a positive option for young people to get
involved in their communities," says Farley Flex, one of the judges on the
pitch contest panel. "The most fulfilling aspect of being a judge is to see
these young people go after their dreams right there in front of me."
