LONDON, ON, June 20 /CNW/ - The Labatt Blue Bottle Drive is taking place
in London for one weekend starting Friday, June 20 through to Sunday, June 22.
The event was created to raise funds and awareness for the Military Families
Fund, an agile and responsive fund that responds to the special-case needs of
the Canadian Forces members and their families.
Londoners are being invited to donate the proceeds from their empty
bottle returns throughout the weekend and Labatt Blue will match the monies
generated, with proceeds to benefit Military Families Fund.
For the second year, Labatt will be re-activating its "Message in a Blue
Bottle" online initiative. Starting June 20 and through to July 1, Canadians
will be able to log onto www.labattblue.ca to send messages of support to
members of the Canadian Forces currently deployed in Kandahar, Afghanistan for
Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best will join Londoners as they donate their
empty bottle returns at 1:00 pm at the famous and historic Labatt Streamliner.
Paul Walker of Labatt Breweries will also be on site to announce Labatt's
plans to match funds raised by Blue Bottle Drive donations and the launch of
this year's "Message in a Blue Bottle" online campaign.
