Media alert - The disappearing dermatologist: Attrition of Canadian
dermatologists and the impact on dermatological services on the Canadian
public at a time of rising skin cancer rates

OTTAWA, June 29 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Dermatology Association invites the media to attend a news conference on this topic of importance during the association's 84th Annual Conference in Vancouver, July 1-5, 2009.

Dr. Larry Warshawski; President of the Canadian Dermatology Association, Dr. Yves Poulin; President elect of the Canadian Dermatology Association and Dr. Cheryl Rosen; National Director of CDA's Sun Awareness Program, will discuss the increasing urgency to correct a shrinking workforce in the face of rising skin cancer rates and growing and aging populations.

Two guests will relate their personal experience with melanoma and answer questions:

Brynessa Gradley, a 21-year-old from West Vancouver who was diagnosed with an invasive form of melanoma just over a year ago. She represents an alarming and increasing number of women diagnosed with melanoma in Canada.

Ms. Dona Cadman, MP (Surrey North), who lost her husband to melanoma and works with CDA to promote early detection of skin cancer with events held at Parliament Hill and in her own riding.
