Media Alert - Second day of CMA's Annual General Meeting focuses on Exploring
the Need to Improve Accountability of the Health Care System

OTTAWA, Aug. 24 /CNW/ - The Canadian Medical Association's (CMA) second day of deliberations of over 200 physician delegates will focus on the issue of accountability and responsibility throughout the health care system. The day's session will include a presentation by the Auditor General of Canada, Sheila Fraser before delegates attending the CMA's 143rd annual meeting of General Council in Niagara Falls, ON from August 23-25, 2010 at the Sheraton on the Falls Hotel.

The strategic session led by Sheila Fraser will address the issue of how demand has grown for increased accountability for both performance and outcomes, at all levels of health care. The session will be followed by delegates' motions session and by Dr. Anne Doig's Valedictory speech.
