Nimiq 4 to provide HDTV, specialty television and foreign language
OTTAWA, Sept. 19 /CNW/ - On the evening of September 19th and on the
morning of September 20th, senior staff of Telesat Canada will be at the
Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for the launch of the company's
state-of-the-art Nimiq 4 satellite.
Nimiq 4 is fully leased to Bell TV, enabling the expansion of advanced
digital satellite television service offerings over North America with
foreign-language programming, high-definition and specialty channels.
The new spacecraft, manufactured by EADS Astrium, will be located at
82 degrees West orbital position and will carry 32 active high-power
transponders in Ku-band and eight in Ka-band. Nimiq 4 has an expected mission
life of 15-years.
Note to TV stations: Telesat will distribute live video feed of the
satellite's launch on Friday September 19th at 5:26 p.m. EDT. The launch is
scheduled for 5:48 p.m. EDT at the coordinates listed below.

satellite launch as soon as it is available on the morning of September 20th.
