    Community and Labour Will Deliver Pre-Budget Message to Flaherty

    TORONTO, Jan. 21 /CNW/ - This Thursday, the Good Jobs Coalition - an
alliance of more than 35 community and labour groups representing people
throughout the Greater Toronto Area - will be sending a pre-budget message to
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty about the urgent need to repair Employment
Insurance (EI).

    
    EVENT:     Good Jobs Coalition's Pre-budget Call for EI Repair

    LOCATION:  Toronto City Hall, Members' Lounge
               100 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON

    Expected to speak during the media conference are:

    Unemployed auto, steel and Progressive Moulded Products (PMP) workers who
    are experiencing first-hand the problems with current EI policy;

    - Winnie Ng, Co-chair of the Good Jobs Coalition and Coordinator of the
      PMP Action Centre;

    - Winston Tinglin, Director - Community Engagement of the Community
      Social Planning Council of Toronto; and

    - Judy Vashti Persad, Coordinator of the Good Jobs Coalition.
    

    This will be the first public event of the Good Jobs Coalition since last
November's 'Good Jobs Summit' which was attended by a diverse group of more
than 1,000 GTA workers, students, environmentalists, social justice advocates,
youth and community members.
