Significant donation to be announced for children's mental health
TORONTO, June 19 /CNW/ - The sidewalk of University Avenue will be a long
ribbon of blue, as hundreds of T-shirted RBC employees walk north from Front
Street June 21 in the 20th annual RBC SickKids Walkathon. They will be greeted
with a surprise donation furthering much-needed training, research and
outreach into paediatric mental health.
What: The 20th annual RBC SickKids Walkathon has a goal to raise
awareness and $130,000 in RBC employee support. Funds raised will go towards
medical and scientific advances at The Hospital for Sick Children. In the lead
up to the walk, RBC employees organized bake sales and silent auctions, sold
toys and collected pledges from family and friends.
To mark the 20th anniversary, RBC will announce a significant
contribution to children's mental health at SickKids.
The walkathon is part of Putting Communities First, a week-long
celebration (June 18-24) of RBC's longstanding and ongoing commitment to the
communities in which our employees and clients live and work.
