Media Advisory: Ottawa hosts national forum featuring green solutions from leaders of the Canadian agricultural community

    OTTAWA, Oct. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Join BIOTECanada and the Ontario Agri-Food
Forum in Ottawa October 29 - 30, 2007 at the 2007 Agri-Food Innovation Forum
as we explore The Business of Green Solutions. Learn about new technologies
and opportunities in agriculture and food production that are not only
profitable, but also environmentally beneficial.
"Innovation can be defined as fresh ideas that create value. With
escalating oil prices and global warming, forestry and agriculture industries
are being challenged to provide more than food, feed and fibre. Energy and
feedstock for new manufacturing processes are becoming new priorities for the
sector, comments Dr. Gord Surgeoner of Ontario Agri-Food Technologies, an
event co-host.
The two-day forum highlights international trends, Canadian know-how, and
speaks to the opportunities that lie ahead for leading-edge innovators
throughout the agricultural sector. The full event program can be viewed at:

"Canadian agricultural innovation has been at the forefront of global
change for decades. Today the world is being offered green solutions for
manufacturing, food supplies, and industrial applications - all from leading
Canadian companies dedicated to building sustainable technologies," says
Peter Brenders, president & CEO, BIOTECanada.
The forum opens at the Ottawa Congress Centre with a luncheon address by
the Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister
for the Canadian Wheat Board on Monday October 29th. Media registration begins
at 11:30 am and the Minister will speak at approximately 11:50 am.
One of the program highlights includes the Canadian Environmental
Innovation Showcase featuring approximately 20 organizations and companies
helping to lead the development of green solutions in Canada. The showcase
takes place on Monday, October 29 at 5 p.m.
