Media Advisory: Latest Canadian Giving and Volunteering Data to be Released.



    OTTAWA, June 5 /CNW/ -

    
    WHAT:  New data from the largest Canadian study on giving and
           volunteering to be released on Monday June 8. Findings from the
           2007 Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating
           (CSGVP) provide a portrait of activities that are integral to the
           Canadian social fabric and allow us to understand how and why
           Canadians contribute to their communities either through
           donations, volunteering or helping fellow Canadians.

    WHO:   Leaders and knowledge experts in the charitable and voluntary
           field along with various government representatives will come
           together to release the latest data on Canadian giving and
           volunteering. Co-hosted by Ruth MacKenzie, President of Volunteer
           Canada and Marcel Lauzière, Imagine Canada's President & CEO, this
           event will feature a presentation by Dr. Michael Hall,
           Vice-President of Research at Imagine Canada and lead author of
           the report. Media and the general public are welcome to attend.

    The Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating provides the
most comprehensive assessment of giving, volunteering and participating ever
undertaken in Canada and, to our knowledge, in the world. The CSGVP is
conducted by Statistics Canada every three years and is developed through a
unique partnership of federal government departments and charitable and
voluntary organizations.

    Volunteer Canada is a national organization engaged in the promotion of
volunteerism across Canada. As a national leader, it strives to ensure that
volunteer efforts are promoted, recognized, supported and safeguarded.

    Imagine Canada is a national charitable organization that looks into and
out for Canada's charities and nonprofit organizations. It advances knowledge
