VANCOUVER, June 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Canadian Paralympians will be helping
celebrate Canada Day in Hall C of Canada Place in Vancouver on July 1 from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Guests will have a chance to meet some members of the Canadian Paralympic
team heading to the Beijing Paralympic Summer Games, running from Sept. 6-17
The public will also have the chance to try out wheelchair basketball as
wheelchairs and a portable basketball net will be provided. A banner will also
be present for the public to sign for the athletes heading to Beijing. It will
hang in the Athletes' Village in Beijing.
"We are excited to have this opportunity to increase awareness of our
Canadian Paralympic athletes and the Paralympic Movement in the lead up to and
beyond the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games," said Canada's Beijing Paralympic
Team Chef de Mission Debbie Low. "We will be celebrating Canada Day and
everything being Canadian means tomorrow, and come September, our Paralympic
athletes will have the privilege and honour to represent our country at the
Beijing Paralympic Games - the ultimate competition for athletes with a
