Media Advisory - Youth take environmental action Sunday, April 22nd at la TOHU



    MONTREAL, April 18 /CNW Telbec/ - What happens when youth from an inner
city neighbourhood have access to tools, experts and get the opportunity to
explore their environmental concerns? They take action! C-Vert is a unique
pilot project with 15 youth aged 14 to 17 from Saint-Michel in Montreal that
have been thinking and acting on environmental issues for 18 months now.
    They are now ready to let elected officials know what their environmental
priorities are and how these solutions should be implemented. The C-Vert youth
invites all interested persons to come and find out what they have done so far
and what they are proposing for the future by coming to la TOHU, la Cité des
arts du cirque located at 2345 Jarry Street East. Mr. Alan De Sousa, from the
city of Montréal's executive committee, Mrs. Anie Samson, mayor of Villeray -
Saint-Michel - Parc-Extension, Mrs. Diane De Courcy, president of the
Commission scolaire de Montréal's executive committee and the Commission
Jeunesse de Gatineau have already confirmed they will be present in order to
hear what these young people have done and what they propose to do.

    The C-Vert pilot project is an initiative of the Stephen R. Bronfman
Foundation and of its major partners, the City of Montréal,the Villeray -
Saint-Michel - Parc-Extension burrough, the Ministère de l'Emploi et de la
Solidarité sociale and the Secrétariat à la jeunesse of the Québec government,
TOHU, la cité des arts du cirque and the YMCA of Greater Montréal.
