Media advisory - Youth activists speak out about poverty

Daily Bread kicks off Spring Food Drive at Yonge and Eglinton Centre

    TORONTO, March 26 /CNW/ -

WHAT: Still feeling triumphant from last week's Ontario Child Benefit
announcement, Daily Bread Food Bank's Gail Nyberg will kick off
the annual Spring Food Drive. While the budget victory will
help GTA's low-income families in the coming years, the Spring
Food Drive is necessary for Daily Bread to meet the immediate
needs of families struggling with hunger through the summer.
Also on hand will be youth activists from Nelson Mandela Park
Public School to discuss their concerns about poverty and
inspire social action on these issues.

    WHEN: Tuesday, March 27, 2007
              1:00 p.m.

    WHERE: Yonge and Eglinton Centre
2300 Yonge Street, Toronto (North West corner of Yonge and
              Eglinton)
              Outdoors, street level weather permitting
N.B. If it is raining, the launch will take place indoors in
              the Centre Court area

WHO: Gail Nyberg, Executive Director, Daily Bread Food Bank
Youth activists, Nelson Mandela Park Public School
Platoon Chief Les Banski, Toronto Fire Services
