    TOP CANADIAN ATHLETES VISIT INNER-CITY SCHOOLS IN MANITOBA INSPIRING
    STUDENTS TO FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS

    First-time event part of the Canadian Sport Awards/Manitoba Sport Awards

    TORONTO, March 17 /CNW/ -

    
    WHO:      Top athletes, coaches and sport enthusiasts representing the
              Canadian Sport Awards and Manitoba Sport Awards. Participating
              athletes include:

              Kalyna Roberge          Karine Sergerie         Ray Zahab
              Brent Laing/Craig Savill - 2007 World Men's Curling
              Championship
              Sue Swain               Alyssa Johnson          Doris Jones
              Lindsey Argue           Erin Carter             Ashley Voth
              Gazheek Morrisseau Sinclair

    WHAT:     Media are invited to accompany the athletes on The True Sport
              Road Trip - a first-time community outreach effort designed to
              engage and inspire inner-city school children in sport.

    Following up on the Canadian Sport Awards/Manitoba Sport Awards (Wed.,
March 19th at the Garrick Theatre), some of Canada's top amateur athletes will
tour three Winnipeg schools and engage school children in stories of their own
personal accomplishments and demonstrate how sport can lift the human spirit.

    WHEN:     Thursday, March 20th, 2008
           -  Robert Smith School - 8:45 a.m. - 10 a.m.
           -  Elwick Community School - 11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
           -  St Johns High School - 1 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.

    WHERE:    Media can join the athletes on the bus which departs at 8 a.m.
              from The Marlborough Hotel, 331 Smith Street, Winnipeg.

    Otherwise, school addresses are as follows:

    -   Robert Smith School, 300 Sophia Street, Selkirk
    -   Elwick Community School, 30 Maberley Road, North Winnipeg
    -   St Johns High School, 401 Church Avenue, North Winnipeg

    WHY:   These school visits will serve to address current challenges in
           the school system and expose Manitoba students to the empowering
           stories of some of Canada's top amateur athletes, thus providing
           inspiration to students to follow their dreams, sporting or
           otherwise.
