Roland V-Piano Must Be Heard to Be Believed
TORONTO, June 8 /CNW/ - The biggest advancement in 300 years in the
evolution of the piano will be unveiled in Toronto on June 10. A decade in the
making, the Roland V-Piano soars above the limits of digital-piano technology
with its proprietary "living piano" core that faithfully reproduces the sound
of contemporary and vintage pianos and allows the player unprecedented levels
of control and customization.
What makes the Roland V-Piano different from other digital pianos?
Conventional digital pianos use pre-recorded "samples" of notes from an
acoustic piano that are replayed when the same keys are pressed on a digital
piano keyboard. A digitally-sampled piano is essentially a playback machine.
Roland V-Piano's "modeling" technology represents a significant
advancement in sound reproduction. Using mathematical models, Roland V-Piano
software creates intricate piano sounds from scratch and in the moment. This
allows for not only a more authentic piano sound, but for unprecedented levels
of control. Each of the "core elements" that make up an acoustic piano sound,
such as string coatings, key pressure, dampers, frame and mutes, can be
individually customized - an impossible feat for other digital pianos that are
largely bound by the combination of these elements present at the time their
samples were recorded. From an authentic vintage sound to signature vanguard
tones, V-Piano opens a new era of creative possibilities for the piano player.
