MONTREAL, Oct. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - This fall, admission is free to all the
exhibitions on view at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. As part of this
special fall event, the Museum is inviting Montrealers to a free
behind-the-scenes tour on Sunday, October 21.
The media is invited to join comedian Martin Petit, the Museum's
spokesperson, on a behind-the-scenes tour from 1 to 3 p.m. This tour will
include: the reserves, the storage area for the Museum's works of art,
including thousands of paintings, photographs, drawings, prints and
three-dimensional objects; the conservation labs where conservators and
technicians inspect, conserve and restore works; the three pavilions; and the
Erskine and American Church, which will be incorporated into the Museum's
future Pavilion of Canadian Art. The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts' collection
has 35,261 works, and only about six percent of the collection is on display.
