OTTAWA, Oct. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation
of Students will be available for comment following the release of Statistics
Canada's annual tuition fee survey on the morning of Thursday, October 9.
In polling conducted by Harris-Decima for the Canadian Federation of
Students, reducing tuition fees was chosen by respondents as the single most
important priority for government re-investment in universities and colleges.
76% of respondents also agreed that it is harder for ordinary families to pay
for post-secondary education today than it was 20 years ago.
The Canadian Federation of Students is composed of over one-half million
students across the country from more than 80 university and college students'
unions. Post-secondary students in Canada have been represented by the
Canadian Federation of Students and its predecessor organisations since 1927.
