Media Advisory - Students Comment on Tuition Fees Survey, Student Financial Assistance

OTTAWA, Sept. 24 /CNW/ - Representatives of the Canadian Federation of
Students will be available for comment following the release of Statistics
Canada's annual tuition fee survey on the morning of Tuesday, September 25.
Tuition fees in Canada have more than doubled in the past decade,
saddling students and their families with massive debt. Although several
provinces have frozen or regulated tuition fee increases this fall, financial
barriers remain the single largest obstacle to pursuing a post-secondary
education.
To coincide with Tuesday's Statistics Canada report and the ongoing
federal review of the Canada Student Loans Program, the Canadian Federation of
Students will release a report on post-secondary education and student
financial assistance.

The Canadian Federation of Students is composed of over one-half million
students across the country from more than 80 university and college students'
unions. Post-secondary students in Canada have been represented by the
Canadian Federation of Students and its predecessor organisations since 1927.
