Media Advisory - Solidarity BBQ for striking Commissionaires

OTTAWA, Jan. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Striking Commissionaires are delivering
their message straight to their employer. They are asking the Corps of
Commissionaires to come back to the bargaining table and to negotiate a fair
collective agreement.
The Commissionaires have been on strike for 8 weeks. They provide
security services to Health Canada buildings at Tunney's Pasture and other
locations in Ottawa. They currently earn $12.25 an hour and the employer wants
to impose even lower salaries.
The Commissionaires will hold a BBQ at noon in front of the Regional
Headquarters of the Corps of Commissionaires.
The BBQ on Wednesday is sponsored by the Public Service Alliance of
Canada and the Ottawa & District Labour Council.
