DORCHESTER, NB, June 24 /CNW Telbec/ - The Union of Solicitor General
Employees (USGE) brings its "Save our Farms" campaign (www.saveourfarms) to
Dorchester on Friday to mobilize opposition to the Harper government's plans
to close the Westmorland Institution - one of the six prison farm annexes the
government has slated for closure.
The USGE, a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada which
represents over 160,000 workers nationally, along with the National Farmers
Union and numerous community groups across the country have joined in
opposition to plans to close these farms which make such positive
contributions to the lives of inmates and to their surrounding communities.
