Media Advisory - Royal College Recognizes Excellence - 2008 Convocation to Honour Dr. Louise Arbour



    OTTAWA, Sept. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - The Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Canada is pleased to recognize the distinguished contributions
made by physicians, surgeons and members of the community who have
demonstrated outstanding commitments to human rights, leadership, compassion,
medical education and the practice of specialty medicine.
    Louise Arbour, recognized the world over for her recent role as UN High
Commissioner for Human Rights will deliver the Convocation address. In
addition, the Royal College will bestow honorary fellowships and awards to
Fellows and residents at the annual Convocation Ceremony, to be held at the
Westin Ottawa on Friday, September 26, 2008.
    Of the over 1200 specialists the Royal College is proud to certify this
year, over 100 of them will be travelling to Ottawa with their families to
receive their certifications in over 40 specialties at Convocation. Honoured
individuals and Fellows will receive awards based on achievements that reflect
the aims and objectives of the Royal College, lifelong contributions to
medical education, for clinical investigative work and training leadership.
