NORFOLK COUNTY, ON, March 23 /CNW/ - Norfolk County Mayor Dennis Travale
invites media representatives to report on a Round Table Meeting of Mayors and
Wardens on Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at the Norfolk County Administration
Building, Committee Room A, Governor Simcoe Square, 50 Colborne Street South,
On January 17, municipal leaders met in Tillsonburg and unanimously
endorsed a resolution supporting a tobacco industry exit strategy from senior
levels of government. The federal and provincial budgets have been announced.
The demise of our tobacco industry and spin-off ramifications on our
communities have been ignored by Ottawa and Queen's Park.
The purpose of the meeting on March 28 is to provide municipal feedback
to the federal and provincial governments. The lack of action on their part
and the resulting effect on the economies of our communities must be
communicated to them. It is hoped that a unified message can be agreed upon by
the Mayors and Wardens in attendance, and issued at the end of the meeting.
Please let us know you are planning to attend by calling Maureen
Rebbetoy, the Mayor's Administrative Assistant, at (519) 426-5870 ext 1248 or
