    TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ -

WHAT: Daily Bread Food Bank will release the results of the 2009 survey
of people who rely on food banks. The report, called Who's
Hungry: 2009 Profile of Hunger in the GTA, illustrates the depth
of the hunger crisis in the Greater Toronto Area. Daily Bread's
Gail Nyberg and Michael Oliphant will provide an overview of the
statistics of food bank use in our community and discuss root
causes behind this year's dramatic spike to over one million
client visits. Self-advocate, Carol Armstrong, will be available
to share her experience with living in poverty and what has moved
her to become involved as an advocate and community-based
            researcher.

Over 100 survey volunteers conducted 1975 one-on-one interviews
at 49 food banks across the GTA, providing insight to the
struggles food bank clients face. It is the only survey of its
            kind in Canada.
