MEDIA ADVISORY - Rail Safety Week 2011 - CN Police urge citizens to report unsafe behavior on railroad property to help stem rising number of trespassing fatalities and serious injuries

HOMEWOOD, IL, April 27 /CNW Telbec/ - CN (TSX:CNR)(NYSE: CNI) invites the media to report on key issues at the center of Rail Safety Week, from May 2 to May 8, 2011. Faced with rising numbers of fatalities and serious injuries from crossing and trespassing accidents, CN Police are launching their SEE IT? REPORT IT! You Could Save a Life public awareness campaign. The police force is asking the public to help save lives by calling CN Police at 1-800-465-9239 whenever they witness unsafe behavior on railroad property.

Throughout the week, CN Police will conduct safety blitz operations at commuter stations and railroad crossings across the United States and Canada. Officers will send clear messages to commuters and motorists about the importance of safety at crossings and the deadly risks of trespassing on railroad tracks and property.

CN Police are particularly concerned about growing risk-taking behavior associated with trespassing. In 2010, fatalities from trespassing increased by eight per cent, and serious injuries by 11 per cent. "We don't tolerate people who put their lives - and the lives of others - at risk," said CN Police Chief Bobby Walker. "We are getting tougher about enforcing the law, and are engaging the public in helping CN Police fight unsafe activity. Help us by reporting dangerous behaviour you see; you could save a life."

A news release and list of safety blitz locations will be distributed on PR Newswire on Monday, May 2, 2011, at 6 a.m. (ET).
