OTTAWA, June 23 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Paediatric Society's 85th
Annual Conference, June 24-28 in Victoria B.C., will showcase the latest
research and developments in child and youth health. Over 700 paediatricians
and child and youth health professionals from across Canada are expected to
The program includes more than 130 scientific abstracts in areas such as
neonatal-perinatal medicine, developmental paediatrics, adolescent health,
infectious diseases and mental health.
The conference features:
- A keynote address by Naomi Klein, journalist, author and activist.
Ms. Klein will speak Tuesday, June 24 during the Opening Ceremonies
between 5:00 and 6:30 pm (all times local Victoria)
- Timely workshops and concurrent seminars on child and youth health.
Topics include electronic communication with patients, international
child health, community acquired infections, circumcision, Canadian law
and physical punishment, and the role of fathers in parenting.
- Thursday, June 26, 2008, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.: A
car and booster seat demonstration will showcase the correct
installation of car seats. The Honorable Linda Reid, Minister of State
for Child Care, B.C., will speak about the new child passenger safety
regulations at approximately 9 a.m.
