Media Advisory - Paediatric conference features latest research on child and youth health



    MONTREAL, June 20 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Paediatric Society's 84th
Annual Conference features the latest research on child and youth health
including 147 scientific research abstracts.
    Scientific abstracts cover several areas of paediatrics including:
adolescent medicine, cardiovascular/respiratory medicine, community
paediatrics, critical care/NICU, developmental/behavioural paediatrics,
emergency, endocrine/metabolism, epidemiology, gastroenterology/clinical
nutrition, haematology/oncology, infectious diseases, injury prevention, and
neonatology/perinatology.

    
    Among the abstracts being presented are the following:

    - #14 Sensory processing in adolescents prenatally exposed to
      alcohol

    - #17 Language and literary after paediatric cochlear
      implantation

    - #41 Growth and nutrient intakes of human mild-fed premature
      infants provided with extra energy and nutrients after hospital
      discharge

    - #72 Is there a relationship between gestational age at time
      of elective cesarean section and the need for NICU admission and
      neonatal respiratory distress

    - #103 The association between iron deficiency anemia and
      stroke in young children

    - #111 Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in
      a tertiary-care pediatric center: A 15-year perspective

    - #134 Nebulized hypertonic saline in the treatment of viral
      bronchiolitis in infants

    - #135 Maternal attitudes and behaviour associated with
      developmental outcome in very low birth weight (VLBW) and full-term
      preschoolers

    - #141 Parent picture-book reading in the NICU as a predictor
      of later book-reading and improved parent-infant interaction
