Media Advisory - OPSEU president to join NOSM march and rally August 23 in
Sudbury

SUDBURY, ON, Aug. 20 /CNW/ - Warren (Smokey) Thomas, president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, will join other local labour activists on Monday Aug. 23 in a show of solidarity and support for striking members of Local 677 representing workers at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

"Our members on strike are seeking nothing more than fairness and respect. The support they're receiving from the local community has been outstanding and I look forward to being there as a reminder that they can count on their union to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them," said Thomas.

Following the march and rally in Sudbury, Thomas will travel to Thunder Bay where he will participate in a similar event in support of striking NOSM workers at Lakehead University.
