Media Advisory - Ontario's Buyers and Sellers to Meet at Greening Greater Toronto Marketplace in Toronto: May 12



    TORONTO, April 29 /CNW/ - According to Greening Greater Toronto's June
2008 report, commercial and public sector organizations create 64 percent of
the Toronto region's waste, over 70 percent of the total waste going to
landfill, and almost half of the region's carbon emissions. Greening Greater
Toronto's Green Procurement Program aims to improve the environmental
performance of companies and other organizations and help build a green
economy in Ontario.
    The Greening Greater Toronto Marketplace, a key part of the Procurement
Program, will be Canada's premier cross-sectoral procurement event. Over 100
senior procurement executives representing Ontario's largest companies,
organizations and public sector institutions will: hear from firms about green
technologies and services that deliver environmental benefits and positive
business returns; network with industry experts; explore and buy new
technologies; and develop strategies to integrate green purchasing and
sustainable practices.

    
    WHAT:  Greening Greater Toronto Marketplace event is a unique opportunity
           for green innovators to showcase and pitch their technologies,
           products, and services to 100+ top procurement executives from
           Ontario's largest retail, government, institutional, and business
           organizations. The Greening Greater Toronto Marketplace is part of
           the Ontario Centre of Excellence Discovery '09 conference,
           Canada's foremost innovation and commercialization event which
           brings together over 1500 entrepreneurs, investors, students,
           innovators, researchers, business and government leaders. The
           Marketplace will feature:
           - Fast-paced, 10-minute exhibitor presentations throughout the day
           - Demonstrations and exhibits by green innovators
           - Panels and keynote speeches by industry experts
           - Private meeting rooms for deal-making

    WHEN:  May 12, 2009, 9:40 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    WHERE: Metro Toronto Convention Center, South Building located at 222
           Bremner Boulevard in Toronto, Ontario

    WHO:   More than 20 green suppliers will present their green-technology
           solutions to 100+ senior procurement executives from the Ontario's
           largest business, government, and non-profit organizations. These
           solutions are on the market and available for sale today.
           Presenting companies include IBM, Encelium, CARMA Industries, and
           Xerox.
