Linda Haslam-Stroud to make Nursing Week site visits
TORONTO, May 11 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President Linda
Haslam-Stroud, RN will visit registered nurses in Toronto and Burlington
tomorrow as part of Nursing Week 2009 celebrations.
Haslam-Stroud will attend a Nursing Week dinner with ONA members from
Toronto General Hospital and later meet with members from Local 71 in
"This has been a challenging year for all our front-line members, as
nurses have borne the brunt of many budget cuts in the Ontario health-care
system," says Haslam-Stroud. "But during Nursing Week, the spotlight will be
on the valuable contributions that RNs make to the health-care system and the
patients who need the expertise of RNs on the front lines."
ONA is the union representing 54,000 registered nurses and allied health
professionals and more than 10,000 nursing students providing care in
hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics
and industry. ONA is celebrating 35 years of nursing advocacy - a proud past,
a powerful future.
