Media Advisory - Ontario Nurses' Association & OPSEU Members Highlight More Workplace Violence at CAMH

TORONTO, Oct. 20 /CNW/ - Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) President
Linda Haslam-Stroud, RN will join CAMH front-line registered nurses and OPSEU
President Warren (Smokey) Thomas and members to call for better workplace
safety at a media conference tomorrow morning outside the entrance to the
Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto.
Following another violent incident at CAMH, the union leaders from ONA
and OPSEU will take their call public.
Less than a year ago, three RNs were attacked and injured at CAMH because
of lax security. Little has changed in the intervening months and health-care
workers continue to face injuries.
ONA is the union representing 54,000 registered nurses and allied health
professionals working in Ontario hospitals, long-term care facilities, public
health, the community and industry. OPSEU represents 130,000 public-sector
workers across the province, including more than 30,000 in the health-care
sector.
