Media advisory - October 8, 2008: provincial and territorial housing ministers and national housing groups to call on federal government for action



    OTTAWA, Oct. 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Provincial and territorial ministers
responsible for housing will meet with representatives of national housing
organizations in Ottawa, October 8, to make the case for long-term federal
engagement in housing.
    Ministers attending are: Minister Doug Currie, PEI; Minister Mary
Schryer, N.B.; Minister Jim Watson, Ont.; Minister Gord Mackintosh, Man.;
Minister Jim Kenyon, Y.T.; Minister Michael McLeod, N.W.T.; Minister Shawn
Skinner, N.L.; Minister Patterk Netser of Nunavut will be represented by Peter
Scott, President of the Nunavut Housing Corp.

    
    WHAT:    Provincial and territorial housing ministers meet in Ottawa with
             representatives of national housing organizations, including
             Aboriginal leaders.

    WHEN:    Oct. 8, 2008, 10:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (all times Eastern).

             - The Ministers will host Aboriginal leaders at breakfast.

               10:15 to 10:55 a.m.

             - Following breakfast, the Ministers travel to Foster Farm
               Community Centre for their meeting with housing organizations,
               which starts at 10:15 a.m. The meeting will be open to media
               during opening statements from 10:15 to 10:55 a.m.

               2:30 to 2:45 p.m.

             - A housing site visit with the Ministers will take place at
               2:30 p.m. (photo opportunity for media).

               3:00 to 3:30 p.m.

             - The Ministers will be available for interviews at 3:00 p.m.

    WHERE:   The meeting with housing organizations takes place in the
             Multi-Purpose Room at the Foster Farm Community Centre, an
             Ottawa Community Housing facility, at 1065 Ramsey Crescent,
             Ottawa. The Ministers' media availability will take place in the
             Community Centre.
