    -   Launch of the new PainExplained.ca campaign, a coordinated campaign
        to raise awareness and promote the need to achieve better
        understanding, prevention and management of all types of pain in
        Canada.

    -   Pain Education Survey study: this new study surveys and compares the
        specific pain education delivered through various health sciences
        curricula across Canada, including medical and nursing program.

    -   Topline (EMBARGOED): The study will shows that veterinary medicine
        programs incorporate significantly more designated pain-specific
        teaching about pain than other health sciences programs.

    Wednesday, November 7:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    -   Comprehensive Study of the Impact of Pain in Canada: A large-scale
        survey conducted by SES research will be released, providing new data
        about the prevalence of pain across Canada (including regional
        variation) and examining the various impacts of pain, including
        issues of lost productivity and income impacts.

    -   Topline (EMBARGOED): This study will show that the incidence of
        chronic pain across Canada in the general population has risen
        significantly, relative to past Canadian studies. Comparators with
        similar international studies will allow comparison against pain
        rates in Europe.

    -   Additional recognition of 2007 as the International Association of
        the Study of Pain (IASP)'s campaign to raise awareness of pain in
        women.

    Painexplained.ca is a coordinated campaign to raise awareness and promote
the need to achieve better understanding, prevention and management of all
types of pain in Canada.
