    Released on the 39th anniversary of the Report of the Royal Commission on
the Status of Women in Canada, YWCA Canada's Report on the Status of Women in
Canada reveals that while women have come a long way, we still have a long way
to go.
    YWCA Canada's Report on the Status of Women in Canada outlines a critical
path for all parties to implement, addressing Canada's most pressing social
concerns including:

    
    -   Adopt a national child care program
    -   Implement pay equity across the workforce
    -   Develop a comprehensive national poverty reduction plan
    -   Create a national program to end women's street homelessness
    -   Substantially increase national transfers to low-income mothers
    -   Implement a coordinated national action plan on violence against
        women and girls
    -   Ensure a minimum of 50% women candidates in every municipal,
        provincial and federal riding
    -   Restore the Court Challenges Program
    -   Restore the strength, funding and equality mandate of Status of Women
        Canada
