Media Advisory - New Ways of Thinking and Delivering Health Care: Advanced Nursing Practice Steps Up for Canadians' Health



    TORONTO, Sept. 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Toronto will host almost 600 advanced
practice nurses and nurse practitioners from 30 countries during the
5th International Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nursing Network
Conference from September 17 to 20, 2008. The conference will be held at the
Westin Harbour Castle Conference Centre.
    The conference will look at how advanced practice nursing can meet the
health-care needs of Canadians in a time of health human resources shortages
through leadership in improving population health and collaborating toward new
approaches to health care. Advanced practice nurses, including nurse
practitioners and nurse anesthetists, are playing a key role in improving
access to health-care services in Canada and around the world.

    
    Featured speakers include:

    - Stephen Lewis, professor in global health, McMaster University,
      and co-director of AIDS-Free World
    - Dr. Stephanie Ferguson, International Council of Nurses Switzerland
    

    An international panel will discuss Maximizing Health and Global
Development of the APN Role; the panel includes Beng Choo Ang from Singapore,
Anna Green from Australia, Petrie Roodbol from Netherlands and Kaaren Neufeld
from Canada.
