Media Advisory - New Program Will Help to Reduce the Number of Emergency Room Visits by Seniors



    OTTAWA, Oct. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - Dr. Robert Cushman, CEO of the
Champlain LHIN and Councillor Alex Cullen will be on hand to help launch a
new, innovative program aimed at improving the health of vulnerable seniors
and reducing the number of hospital emergency room visits.
    The program, a partnership between the Champlain Community Care Access
Centre, Ottawa Community Housing and Ottawa West Community Support on behalf
of the Ottawa Community Support Coalition, is being launched on Monday,
October 22 at 616 Kirkwood Avenue, one of five targeted seniors' apartment
buildings participating in the program. Seniors from the buildings will also
be represented.
    Also speaking at the event are Cal Martell, Chair, Regional Geriatric
Program and a senior receiving services from the program.
