Media Advisory - New Facility Represents a Leap Forward in Specialized Mental Health Care

    What:   A news conference will announce the opening of a unique and
            innovative state-of-the-art facility to promote rehabilitation,
            recovery and improved quality of life for clients with mental
            illness that have come into contact with the criminal justice
            system and who have been found or may be found to be not
            criminally responsible (NCR).

    What:   Political dignitaries, representatives of the Royal Ottawa Health
            Care Group, forensic experts, and community stakeholders will
            gather to celebrate and recognize this momentous accomplishment
            to improve the quality of treatment and recovery for a
            specialized population in Ontario's mental health care system.

            - Dr. John Bradford, Associate Chief of Forensic Psychiatry

    When:   Friday, June 15, 2007 at 11 a.m.

    Where:  Brockville Mental Health Centre, Forensic Treatment Unit

    Why:    - The addition of this new facility positions both the Royal
              Ottawa Health Care Group and the Brockville Mental Health
              Centre as a centre of excellence in forensic psychiatry, as
              professionals under the ROHCG umbrella also provide clinical
              services for 100 clients under the jurisdiction of the Ministry
              of Community Safety & Correctional Services at the St. Lawrence
              Valley Treatment Centre, located adjacent to the new Forensic
              Treatment Unit.
            - The facility is central to a nationally recognized program in
              forensic psychiatry.
            - The newly refurbished facility will provide improved quality of
              life and programming for 59 clients in a challenging and
              growing segment of the mental health care system.
