Media Advisory - National student federation chairperson to comment on federal budget



    OTTAWA, Feb. 25 /CNW Telbec/ - Canadian Federation of Students' National
Chairperson Amanda Aziz will be available for comment immediately following
the tabling of the federal budget on Tuesday, February 26 at 4:00 p.m.
    During pre-budget consultations, the Canadian Federation of Students made
the following recommendations:

    
    - Replace the beleaguered Millennium Scholarship Foundation with a
      national system of need-based grants administered by the Canada Student
      Loans Program
    - Reduce the interest rate on Canada Student Loans
    - Improve the Interest Relief program to better reflect the realities of
      student debt
    - Increase support for graduate students and redress the funding
      imbalance between the sciences and the social sciences

student organization, uniting over one-half million students from all ten
provinces.
